This the end of my class's first full week on the project. Although it has been a very hectic week outside of the project (parents evening, a course this evening and another tomorrow) it has been a productive one regarding Arctic Stories. Children received their first letter at the end of last week an and undertook the culturegram and the 'Before the Trader Came' activity at the start of this week. Although I initially pencilled in one session today for children to work on the role play element, we spent the best part of the whole day, (other than a maths lesson first thing) developing the activity. By giving children time to fully understand the roles and jobs associated with each member of the family, they were able to gain a developed understanding of of the lives of the people they were emulating through the role play activities. I think the today's work has provided a good foundation for children's understanding and motivated them effectively for the activities to come.
