Video clip of 'The Trader'
I used ideas from activities 14 and and 15 for a lesson for my performance management last week. A main feature of the lesson was a video clip of my brother in law laying the part of the trader making the offer to the children who were asked to imagine they were in the position of the Ihalmiut people. The video is on Teacher Tube and can be found easily by searching for 'The Trader' if anyone would like to use it. The main activity of the lesson was a formal debate. Children had to pretend they were the Ihalmiut people and decide whether or not to accept the offer. I was very pleased with the lesson and felt the video clip really got the children thinking and talking about what they should do. Before the debate we did the decision line (activity 14/15) and 'brainstormed' (in groups of four) pros and cons to provide further inspiration for the debate. I have added a brief page, including the clip, to the wiki page. I hope all is well with everyone :)
